In October 2018 (10th-12th), Shiraz University hosted the 13th International Conference for the Promotion of Persian Language and Literature, and the 22nd Hafez Memorial Day.

The Association for the Promotion of Persian Language and Literature organizes this conference annually. In 2018, the Department of Persian Language and Literature and Chair of Hafez Studies at Shiraz University hosted the international event. This year, the conference was scheduled to coincide with the 22nd annual Hafez Memorial Day (Mehr 20th = October 12th), which commemorates the Persian poet and his contributions to the development of Persian intellectual and poetic tradition. 

This is one of the world's foremost and largest conferences that is exclusively focused on Persian Literature. Due to its significance, the conference was opened with messages from the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, and the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance. 

In addition to numerous professors from Iranian universities, prominent keynote speakers from Bosnia, Armenia, Bangladesh, Turkey, and India shared their research on Persian language and literature in their respective contexts with participants.
